*A standard Abacus used in training typically has:
*17 rods (though this can vary)
*Each rod has 5 beads – 1 on the upper deck and 4 on the lower deck
*The middle bar separating the upper and lower beads is called the "reckoning bar"

*Each lower bead represents 1 unit
*Each upper bead represents 5 units
*The values are counted when beads are moved toward the reckoning bar.
